All of these pictures were taken on the Portage Glacier Hwy in AK. After we left the visitor center the road went a little farther and these are the pictures along that part of the road. As you can see the weather was good and this was the first time in five trips to the Portage Glacier area that the weather has cooperated. We went the day before I took these pictures and it was foggy and sprinkling.
If you look at the picture above you can see the glacier peaking out of the valley.

These are all wonderful pictures. While I like the blue sky and reflections in the first picture, I think the second picture, with the sculptured snow, is my favorite.
That looks so cold....bet it is always good sleeping weather up there!
As cold as these make me feel I want to be there. :)
Lovely landscape shots Neal!
So pretty with a small amount of snow and a little ice.
What wonderful pictures! I am just back from being sick and catching up.
This Glacier has reduced in size dramatically since I was stationed on Alaska. We visited Portage may times from 72-75.
The glacier could be seen from the parking lot near the visitors center. The glacier stood 70 feet above the lake level.
Thanks for the recent images!
