Grand Teton National Park

My lovely bride sitting on a rock overlooking Jenny Lake in Grand Teton NP.

The Tetons as the sun is getting ready to set.

It was kind of hazy this afternoon...kind of gave a nice effect.

Sun rays beaming in front of the Tetons.

The Tetons in all their glory.  They are really beautiful.

Oxbow Bend in the Tetons.  We went there several evenings near sunset to watch for animals. We saw several moose from  this place....not to mention the beautiful scenery.

Can't recall the name of this.

Oxbow Bend....again.

Vacation 2008

These pictures are from our first Alaskan cruise.  On that cruise we went from Vancouver, BC to Whitter, AK.
Remember a little while back I showed you some pictures of the Grand Teton mountains?  This is a picture of them from the air.

A different angle of the Tetons.

I don't know where this was but thought it was pretty and rugged.

This is a bridge close to where our cruise left Vancouver.

Wildlife

Can't leave the park with showing you a few examples of the wildlife we saw.
Saw lots of buffaloes.  I think one was irritated with me.  He wanted to cross the road and I was driving along about 15 feet from him and he finally snorted.  I got out of there before he decide to charge the car. :)
Not a good picture but you can see the bald eagle in the tree.
Elk of course.
Osprey on nest.
Another osprey.
Mountain goat keeping guard!
Another elk.
Closeup of elk.
Mama moose with baby!

Tetons

Another cabin near the house in the previous blog.  Notice the modern bathroom on the right. :)

Snake River winding it's way through the park.
Not a good picture but thought I'd show it anyway.  The sky was beautiful but it was so dark that I couldn't hold the camera still enough to get a good clear picture.

Grand Tetons

There's not a lot to say except here are some more pictures of the Tetons. I have been there at least three times and would love to go back.
Just before the sun sets.  It was so peaceful and beautiful.

More Grand Tetons

We took a boat ride across this lake and then hiked up a trail.  This is looking back across from where we came.
It was kind of hazy this day and looked like it might rain even though it never did.
This would have been a nice picture if it wasn't for the reflection in the middle of the picture.  I could probably fix it but I'm too lazy. :)
I thought this was a neat picture even if the composition isn't good.  I just like the rays of sunshine poking through.

Grand Teton National Park

On the south side of Yellowstone is Grand Teton National Park.  I've seen a lot of mountains and I must say that these are probably my favorite.  They are so majestic and beautiful.  There are several web cams in the area ... some that show the mountain ranges.  Click here to see a list.

Old Barn

Tricia has started an Old Barn meme located here.

This barn is located in Grand Teton National Park.  If you do a Goggle search on the term "Mormon Row" and then click on images at the top you will see plenty pictures of this barn.  It was in a beautiful setting with the mountains in the background.

Grand Teton National Park

These may be repeats for some of you. These shots are from Grand Teton National Park....probably my favorite mountains that I've ever seen. I could sit and gaze at these mountains for hours. Of course since these photos are from the park they are all from the Wyoming side of the mountain range. However you can go here and see a webcam that shows a portion of the mountains from the Idaho side. If you've never been here I don't think you would be disappointed. On top of that Grand Teton joins Yellowstone National Park which is another story.

Grand Tetons

Here are a couple shots from Grand Teton National Park when we visited a couple years ago. They are some of the prettiest mountains that I've ever seen. If you want to see a live (or close to live) photo go here.

Grand Tetons

Skywatch Friday...Click here to go to Wigger's World

These are pictures in Grand Teton National Park. Even though I think the sky is pretty here there's nothing exceptional about it but I do like the pictures as a whole. I think the Tetons are beautiful. They look so majestic rising from the floor of a canyon. There are several web cams that take a picture of the Tetons ever so often. One, located on the Idaho side of the Tetons, is located here. There's another one located on the Wyoming side located here.

On a side note if you want to see(and hear) Old Faithful live go here and launch the live web camera. If you go here and look at the top of the picture it will give you the next predicted eruption. Of course, Yellowstone is in the Mountain Time Zone so appropriate adjustment must be made. The pictures below were captured off the the web cam at Yellowstone National Park and really have a beautiful sky in them.
