Here are some more shots from the Blue Ridge Parkway in October of 2011. The funniest thing of the whole trip was that there were some ladies along the parkway that had never seen snow and they were all giddy asking "Is this snow?". There was one lady with them that had lived in Ohio and she was just rolling her eyes.

Blue Ridge Parkway
No trip to that area would be complete without a little driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We drove to Maggie Valley and go on the Blue Ridge Parkway at that point and drove until we got to the Waynesville exit and then got off. As you can see from the pictures the weather wasn't very nice but it was still pretty. In the last shot all I could see was fog except for a little window in the middle and I could see the mountains through the window...it was kind of neat in person.

Fontana Dam
All of these pictures were taken at Fontana Dam, a TVA lake. I believe the actual dam is in North Carolina.

As the sun goes down
Here are some pictures (may have shown some before) of a sunset on the Outer Banks. It was really beautiful out on the beach. We stayed out there until the sun disappeared.
Allison and her mom looking towards the water.
This seems like a lonely picture to me with the people on the skyline.

Outer Banks III
Went to see the house above on the Outer Banks. It's it a beauty?
Another shot.
Also run upon an old schoolhouse in the picture above.
Here's Mr. frog puffing up. This was on a nature trail that we took
Actually got to see a wild horse. To really see them you had to drive out on the beach where there was a lot of loose sand and I just wasn't ready to take that chance because driving in loose sand can be tricky. It's too easy to end up sitting on the frame of your vehicle and you can't move.

Outer Banks II
The first shot is from a pullover along the road. We happened to see the bird on the nest and thought it was kind of a pretty area so naturally we stopped to look around. The rest of the shots are from a nature trail that we hiked. It was a really enjoyable hike.

Outer Banks
Our first stop on the Outer Banks was Kitty Hawk. It was interesting to look around and read about the Wright Brothers. There was a museum there that we explored that told a lot of history.
This is just a shot of the beach along the way.
Another beach shot.

As the sun fades away
Here is a sequence of pictures showing the sun setting on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. I love to watch sunsets/sunrises. You don't notice how fast the earth rotates until you see a sunset or sunrise and then it becomes very obvious.
