Rock Mountain National Park---IV

All these pictures were taken from the visitors center on Trail Ridge Road.  As you can see there is still quite a bit of snow.  We normally see elk there but we didn't this time.  We had seen a bunch shortly before we got to the visitors center so I would assume that they were the ones we normally see.

In the picture below you can see a gravel road.  It is called the Old Fall River Road and we wanted to drive up it again on this visit but it wasn't open.  We were so disappointed.  It's normally open by July 4th (we were there on the 27th or 28th) but they had so much snow that it still wasn't open.  To make matters worse they told us it was going to open the following weekend. :(  We've always loved driving up it.  It's a gravel, one way, steep and winding road but it sure is fun to drive up it and take in the scenery.

Great photos, Neal... It's amazing how different it looked there when you were there as when we were there.

We couldn't even see that gravel road due to the snow when we were there...

One of these days, we'll get to travel that road!!!!

Awesome pictures, and i love the starkness of your header! That road would definitely not be fun for me. Gads, you are as much of an Evel Kenivel as Betsy!! Well, that's fine, because I get to sit back and reap the benefits!

It's amazing that there was still quite a bit of snow around when you visited. Betsy was so disappointed that we couldn't drive the Old Fall River Road. We'll definitely go back later in the season so we can drive up it. Your pictures are wonderful.

I wish I could drive that last road...I bet I would be wanting to stop every little bit for photos...if it wasn't busy.
