Avalanche Lake

Our second hike of the day was to Avalanche Lake.  They were doing construction near the trailhead and we like to never found a parking space because they had it all screwed up.  It was a nice hike.  When we got  to the lake we just set there and enjoyed it for a while.  The last shot of the water coming down the mountain is not a good shot but I still wanted to show it since I love seeing water flowing down a mountain.  When we got back to the car I was kind of pooped....between this trail and the Hidden Lake trail we had hiked almost 8 miles.  This was probably not a good way to start out but we survived it.

Two hikes in one day. What were you thinking!! :)
I fully understand needing to use your time wisely in this beautiful place. I just would not have survived that many miles.
When we travel the WV Turnpike on a heavy rainy day in winter when the trees are bare I love looking into the woods and watching the water come down the mountains.

That's a lot miles to cover on foot, but the scenery is so gorgeous.

I'm impressed with you and Patti for taking two hikes on your first day. This hike was certainly to a pretty site.

Wow---that is a heck of a lot of hiking in one day... Not sure I'd make it THAT far anymore... Actually the longest hike I ever took was several years ago --and that was 9 miles... Most of the time, I'm happy with 2-3 miles TOTAL.

Beautiful photos.
