Skagway to Carcross (Part 3)

This is the final section of the Skagway to Carcross to Skagway pictures. As you can tell I really, really enjoyed this drive. Some of the pictures may look like repeats of previous pictures (Tormented Valley) but they aren't. I stopped there both going and coming because it was such a beautiful area. On the way back we saw another bear. Notice how black he is compared to the other bear even though the other bear was a black bear also. One thing I forgot to mentioned in my first post about this trip is that we were just out of Skagway and I was just getting up to speed when a bear ran across the road in front of me and I had to slam on my brakes. When we got back to Skagway I took a little side road to get a view of Skagway. It's not a good view but you get the general idea of how it looks.

Added waterfall at bottom to satisfy Betsy. :)

Just outside Carcross we ran upon this desert like area.  It is really about a square mile of sand dunes.  It's very odd to see it out in the mountains no matter what it's called.
About 15 miles pass Carcross was Emerald lake.  It was really beautiful in person.  This is where we turned around and headed back to Skagway.
Another shot of Emerald lake.
We saw another bear on the way back and naturally had to stop.

Skagway to Carcross (Part 2)

As you can see from the first picture below we are just crossing into Canada. When we got to the Canadian customs station a guy came out and ask the normal questions and then saw I had a GPS and chuckled and said "There only one road, you can't get lost". I said "I know but I have some waterfalls marked on it and wanted to make sure I don't miss them." He's right, there is only one road for most of the drive and you can't get lost. These are just pictures along the way. When we are on a drive like this we stop at about every pullover place. It's kind of amazing how just a few hundred feet can make a difference in how a place looks.
Crossing into Canada
This is of of the two bears we saw on the drive.  Both were eating dandelion blooms.
I believe this was called Tormented Valley.
Have to throw in a waterfall for George &  Betsy! :) A very small one but a waterfall nonetheless.
