Glacier ice

The ice at Portage Glacier was so beautiful because of the bluish color. It looks so cold to me yet I think it is beautiful.

All of these pictures were taken on the Portage Glacier Hwy in AK.  After we left the visitor center the road went a little farther and these are the pictures along that part of the road.  As you can see the weather was good and this was the first time in five trips to the Portage Glacier area that the weather has cooperated. We went the day before I took these pictures and it was foggy and sprinkling.

If you look at the picture above you can see the glacier peaking out of the valley.

Seward highway

All these pictures(except the last one) were taken along the Seward Highway south of Anchorage.  There were places to pull over and look so we stopped at about all of them of course.

This picture was taken at Portage Glacier near Whittier.  It was cloudy and damp that day.  That is pretty much the norm here.

Day 2

The second day in AK we went to Portage Glacier just south of Anchorage. This was the 4th time to AK for us and it was raining like the other 3 times when we were at Portage Glacier. :)

A waterfall along the Seward Highway. Since it was early in the year there was a lot of snow melt running off so waterfalls like this were pretty commom.

Now this is a snowblower....that would move a lot of snow. :)
