Skagway to Carcross (Part 1)

When we got into Skagway we got off the ship and headed to the car rental place to pick up our car. The previous time there we had taken a train ride and even though it was enjoyable I wanted to try something else. We hadn't gone far out of Skagway (on the Klondike Highway) until we came across the waterfall in the top picture. This waterfall was just the first of several that we saw.
All the following pictures are just pictures along the way. This was a beautiful drive as you will see from the pictures that I will post. Even though the light was not ideal I still got some pretty good shots (I'm never satisfied:)). To me this drive was the highlight of the trip. We drove about 15 miles pass Carcross, Yukon before turning around and going back. In my opinion the only negative to taking a drive like this is that if you happen to have some kind of trouble and don't get back to the ship they will leave you whereas if you book an excursion through them they will either wait on you or make arrangements to get you to the next port-of-call. Since that was the case we made sure we didn't run close on time.
Waterfall not to far out of Skagway.  This is one of several waterfalls that we seen.  Some from far away but waterfalls nonetheless.

All of these photos are beautiful, Neal. I don't see anything wrong with the light. If you show more pictures like this you are going to make me want to rent a car as well.

Wow----I can't believe how much snow was still around. Was it cold when you were there?

I'm not sure whether we will take an excursion or take off on our own... Since we have never been there, we may just go on 'their' excursions this time.... Not sure though --since your pictures are gorgeous...

Love the waterfall (all of them you have showed us).

I see another negative to this drive... having to drive - I surely would have wrecked or else drove on the side of the road very slowly to be able to SEEE IT ALL & TAKE IT ALL IN! God sure knew what he was doing when he created Alaska & surrounding areas... He was showing off!

I'm wondering how many other cars you came across. These pics look like you were the only one around.
I like Tricia's take on God showing off. Your pics definitely define "God's Country."

Sorry I haven't been around. Hope you hadn't given up on me. Been dealing with some things.
