Snow oddities

I've published these before but thought maybe some of you haven't seen them. These are called snow rollers. We got up one morning and looked out and these were everywhere. Some were pretty big, up to a foot across. The weather man said they are pretty rare. I know these were the first I had ever seen and I haven't seen any since.

Neal, I don't remember seeing snow rollers before, so I thank you for the picture. Your shadow gives new meaning to the phrase 'long and tall'!

I was thinking about these the other day and wondered if we would ever again see them.

I've never seen them in real life. I wonder what conditions create them. Hmmmm.
