I don't know how many people have ever seen a lady slipper. They are a member of the orchid family. Around here all I've ever seen are the yellow variety but I have seen pink ones in other places. They may be common in some areas but around here they are kind of rare.

A wonderful specimen. What a thrill. We get the fairy slippers and the deep red of the calypso.
