Old home place

We went up to our old home place in the "sticks" yesterday. The daffodils were so pretty and green. Every time I go up there it brings back a lot of memories. We had a lot of good times up there along with some hard times. I was telling my wife yesterday that it's only by the grace of God that we never got bit by a rattlesnake when we lived up there because we always killed rattlesnakes around there just about every year...sometimes in the yard. I also always laugh when I go back up there because when I was a kid I thought the garden was huge when we had to hoe it but now when I go back I say "Where was that hugh garden I used to work in?" :)

Day before yesterday we walked down to the old 4-room schoolhouse where me and all my brothers and sisters went to grade school. There were two grades in each room so a teacher had to teach two grades. My younger sister Rose along with my sister-in-law were in the last class that attended the school(1970). A neighbor and I were trying to figure out when the school opened and the best we could come up with was in the late 1940's.

Wow! Bobby did get the school grounds cleaned up! It is beginning to look like the school I used to know.

Hello there Neil
Thank you for your visit today and for taking the time to comment as well.. I followed the link to your sister Rose's blog and realised how you found me. I visit there quite often.. I can see that I may have found another place to visit now.
I could only dream of such a place as this... it is the kind of place I would see on the T.V. and wish I could have been there. I imagined myself in your old shool house getting a ticking off for messing about as I'm sure I would back in the 1960/70s. I was 11 back in 1970 and moved on to the bigger school. I hated school and longed to be out doors with my dog.

All the best Neil, I'm sure my name will be popping up here again real soon.
Tom

Thanks for visiting. My sister Rose got me started looking at your blog and I find it interesting. I used to travel to the UK and Ireland pretty often but have now retired. I went to Manchester most of the time when going to UK. I went to Chester (sp??) one time and just loved it there.
