Of course no trip to that Outer Banks would be complete without going to see the lighthouses. We  have always love lighthouses and we got to see several on this trip. These are the Old and New Cape Henry Lighthouses.  We climbed to the top of the old one (for a fee of course) but couldn't get close to the new one.  They are on a military base so we had to get out of the car and let the police search it before entering. As you can see some of the pictures are taken from the top of the old one.

Great shots - especially from the top!
You began with 'no trip to the Outer Banks' and my mind wasn't grasping the pics. Hope you don't mind me saying these aren't on the Outer Banks but on the Fort Story Military Base in Virginia Beach.
Don't do that to an old lady - my mind gets foggy enough! :)

Yeah I did give the wrong impression didn't I. I meant to imply that if you were in that area you wouldn't want to miss the lighthouses. Virginia Beach is a beautiful area...at least I think it is.

Great pictures of the lighthouses. I love the black/white one... WOW!!! If I weren't chasing waterfalls, I'd probably be chasing and photographing lighthouses.

Thanks.

How different they are, and I love the cool angles that you used on these pictures, it really gives us an idea of the height and size. I don't think i have ever seen a real one...
