Pikes Peak

Of course no trip to Colorado would be complete without going up to the summit of Pikes Peak.  All of these pictures were taken from the summit.  I've driven up there several times and I never stop on the way up.  I drive to the top and then make all my stops on the way down. It is really beautiful to look out over the surrounding country.  If you've never been up there and get a chance to go don't pass it up. While there are steep banks on the side of the road it's not a bad drive at all because the road is good.  It's a much better/wider road than the one that goes up to Mt. Evans. However, if you want to take your half of the road in the middle of the road I wouldn't advise driving up there. :)

Rails of the cog train that you can ride to the summit for a fee.

Here comes the cog train.

You're a brave man! Well, at least braver than me! I love the last few pictures, beautiful! It all looks so deserted!

Absolutely gorgeous... I've heard of Pikes Peak all of my life and have never made it there.

When I visited a friend in CO one year, the road up to Pikes Peak was closed. Wonder if it was because it was late December that I was there???? ha ha ha

Have a blessed Sunday.

Believe it or not Betsy the road to Pikes Peak is open part way up in the winter. If you recall I posted pictures earlier this year from Patti and Allison's trip up it over Christmas last year.

These are magnificent views from the summit. I would like to get there some day, but I don't know if I would want to drive up or take the train. I'm guessing that either way to the top would be a never-to-forget experience.
