Down we go!

All these shots were taken as we were going down the mountain.  It's a long ways to the top so you have to be aware and not over heat your brakes going down.  It always amazes me how many people don't know how to go down a mountain.  It's difficult to capture how steep some of the road is.  Hopefully, you'll get the idea from a couple of  these pictures.  The last shot is from the bottom looking back.  If you look closely you can see one of  the buildings on top.

Hi Neal, since I grew up in the mountains of VA and learned to drive (taught by my Dad) there, I learned about using the lower gears when going down the mountain... So many people don't learn that, do they????

Great pictures of you all going down the mountain... I can see that building on the top... Neat!!!

All so beautiful! I love the windy road and the blue sky! The sky is so clear and blue! What are those little sticks sticking up in the first picture?

These are great pictures, and I'm glad you made it safely down. I was amazed at the number of people who rode their brakes going down the mountains at Rocky Mountain National Park. I didn't realize there were so many flat-landers.

The road looks steep to me, Neal! And I bet there have been more than just a few accidents there. But the views are beautiful.

Looking at this post and the last one it reminds me of the Cascade Mts. in Maine and Mount Washington in New Hampshire where there is a cog railroad.
Lovely views! But, even though I know how - I wouldn't want to be the driver. :)
