Black Canyon

This is Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado. It is impossible to capture what it looks like because you can't capture the depth of the canyon with a camera.  In some places it is over 2,000 feet deep.  The waterfall in the picture is supposedly 20 feet high according to a park ranger but it is so far away in the bottom of the canyon that it sure doesn't look like it is that high.

It sure is beautiful, Neal, but I agree that it;s difficult to show the grandness of something that big in a photo.

Amazing pictures. I love the layer in the rocks.

It may be hard to imagine the sheer beauty of such a place but your photos make me want to be there. :)

Mercy sakes alive, that's a deep canyon... The Grand Canyon is a bit deeper, but only because of the layers, this one isn't layered & straight down! YiKeS! God's art work is awesome!!! =)

That sure is similar to Wollomombi Falls without water. Quite amazing. I hope to return one day after rain and see the difference. I think Black Coyon is much deeper than Wollomombi.
