Shawnee National Forest

My wife and I recently visited Shawnee National Forest in southern IL. Our daughter had already been there so she was a big influence in picking this place. We were NOT disappointed...it was really beautiful. The pictures below are all from the "Garden of the Gods" in the national forest. If you are afraid of heights you may not like this area too well because there are some high cliffs. Of course, I always have to go as far and high as I can so I really enjoyed this area immensely.

Well, how strange and almost spooky. Sort of reminds me of Easter Island. What is the first picture?? Is it more of the rocks? It almost looks like a rock with tree stumps inside it!! This is all truly spectacular. Glad I finally got your correct blog after all this time!!

Hi Neal, We'd LOVE that forest area... Those rocks are incredible. If you look at them, you can almost make out shapes and faces....

Looks like a place where we went in Arkansas once.... Gorgeous....
