The following pictures were taken in Disenchantment Bay where Hubbard Glacier is located. If you look the picture above you can see the glacier coming down out of the mountains.

Seal that had just been born. Naturalist said it was probably less than an hour old.
Cropped to see a little better. If you enlarge this picture and look closely you can see the mama seal in the water. She was flapping her flippers trying to get the baby seal to come into the water but s/he wasn't any part of getting in the cold water.When we started into the bay to see Hubbard Glacier I didn't have much hope that we would see much because it was raining and cloudy. However, when we got in closer (maybe a couple miles) it just opened up and was beautiful.

OMG! How amazing is that?!?!! So very awesome... Congrats to the new momma & how lucky you are to have been able to see it! But I don't blame baby for not listening to momma on this one, I wouldn't want any part of that water either... or that 'ice' it's lying on, but what choice does baby have? LoL! Poor thing
All I can say is it looks cold...might feel pretty good today.
These are gorgeous pictures of the glacier and bay (and the baby seal!). Did you get a new job working for the Alaska Tourism Board?

I've told you before the glacier would be tops on my list. I'm surprised to know it gets as loud as thunder though.
