Churches

I've always like old churches and these are no exception. These pictures were taken in the Mammoth Cave area. I wish I had kept track of all the churches there. Just about every church has a cemetery also plus there are a lot of cemeteries without churches. I've always liked to look in old cemeteries so I've downloaded over 100,000 into my GPS by going to this web site.

I love old churches too, Neal. You have cemeteries listed in your GPS. We have lots of waterfalls listed in ours---that George downloaded! The only problem is that the coordinates are for the base of the waterfalls ---and doesn't necessarily follow the trail. One time the GPS took us to the wrong side of the river ---and there was no way to reach the waterfall from that side. Shame on our GPS... She should have known better. ha ha

When are you all coming to see us relaxed and taking-it-easy retirees????

It would be wonderful to hear all the stories these old churches and cemeteries could tell. I like these pictures.

It would be interesting to gather information from all these old churches and who walked their isles and sat in their pews!! 100,000 will definitely keep you busy!! ;-)

Reminds me of the old churches in Cades Cove in the Smokies.
I used to like to look at the stones but once in Cades Cove my Mom took a photo in the cemetary an when she got it back there was an eerie look to it. I think of that every time I'm taking photos. :)
Nice shots!

I wonder if one door is for the men and one for the women. I've seen a few of those around here but they are usually Methodist.
